The Sultan City Council is seeking a student representative to serve on the council for the 2017-18 school year.

Each year a student from the Sultan School District is tapped to fill an ex-officio member position, meaning their vote doesn’t count.

“These students have a remarkable influence on the Council,” said Sultan Mayor Carolyn Eslick in a news release, “and I’ve seen them convince Councils in the past to change their vote.”

A notable former student representative is Russell Wiita, who served in 2012, later going on to win election to the council in November 2015.

Applications are available at Sultan City Hall, 319 Main St., and Sultan High School.
