The Monroe Police Department has concluded its investigation of a fatal train-versus-pedestrian collision that occurred on Sept. 14.

Fifteen-year-old Wes Donohue was killed by an eastbound BNSF freighter train on the tracks at North Kelsey Street.

The Monroe Police Department reports it has determined the Monroe High School student ran across the tracks as the train was approaching, “then stepped back onto the tracks and faced the oncoming train,” according to a news release. “Investigators concluded that the victim’s actions were intentional.”
