A Seattle couple was sent to EvergreenHealth in Monroe after the stolen vehicle they were driving went into Lords Lake on Fryelands Boulevard on Sunday.

The 36-year-old man and 27-year-old woman told police the stolen gold Honda they were in had been rammed off the road by a red Honda being driven by another couple they traveled with to Monroe, said

The two men were seen having a confrontation in the parking lot of the Twin Rivers Chevron in Monroe around 7:41 a.m. Sunday, which is when the Monroe Police Department was first called, according to a news release. The men then got into separate vehicles and sped north on Fryelands Boulevard.

The gold Honda ended up in the lake upside down when the red Honda struck it. The Seattle woman was arrested at the scene, but the man fled. He is believed to have crawled underneath a home on Heintz Avenue, Willis said, coming out when he heard K9 Nuke in the area. Both only had minor injuries, according to the release.

Police are trying to identify the couple in the red Honda, Willis said, and do not know at this point who owns the vehicle and whether it was actually stolen. The man and woman told police the red Honda was taken from a residence near the gas station, so the owner is believed to live somewhere in or around Monroe, she said.

The release states the woman was released from EvergreenHealth, while the man was booked into the Snohomish County Jail on a trespassing charge and for violating a protection order, as he was not legally allowed to be with the woman.

An investigation will help determine who stole the gold Honda, Willis said.
